Module II

Finally, time to let go and get your hands dirty! In this module we will start thinking about our drawing, structuring composition and thinking about colors, in addition to having a very frank conversation about anatomy.

Do not forget to always see the subtitles of the videos, as it has a lot of extra content and information like the materials I use in all the videos.

Drawing I - Structure

Now is the time to start getting our hands dirty. This is the sketchbook I am using in the video, but as in this phase we will only draw with graphite pencil, I highly suggest this other sketchbook which is the one I have been using for many years. Remember not to get too attached to these expensive branding and materials issues, what you need right now is a pencil and a sheet of paper.

Drawing II - Drawing bodies without knowing anatomy

Anatomy and related books that I have and recommend:

The Human Figure (Dover Anatomy for Artists)

Figure Drawing: Design and Invention

Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist

Drawn to Life: 20 Golden Years of Disney Master Classes

Unfortunately, they are expensive and sometimes difficult to find in Brazil. What I suggest is to mine a lot in used bookstores, such as the Estante Virtual , for example, or to keep an eye on promotions in online stores.

Here are some support materials for you to get inspired and deepen your anatomy studies, but remember, no face is the same and the focus of our course is to accentuate the expressiveness of portraits, so anatomy serves as the basis for this visual exploration, Combined?

ERRATA: at the end of this class I comment that we are going to talk about the creative process but next video we are going to do color studies, we already talked about building style in the first module. :)
